Steps to a New Technology!

The Problem & Solution:
These are unused slides, because of technology rapid growth we no longer have to use them. We now have DVDs, and computer programs to create a running movie or a slide show. However, because we no longer can use these slides, we therefore don't want the useful information and photos that are on them to be trashed and forgotten. All in all, their are ways to convert these old slides to something that can be used today for classrooms or any audience they're intended for. Here are the steps how i learned how to take old technology into new technology in my Individual Study with my Prof. Litow. I have been working up to my 45 hours to gain as much information and learning as i can.

Step 1:  Taking the slides out of their individual slots, but keeping them in their natural order.

Step 2: Then you have to remove each 8mm film slip from their white casings. These can be thrown out.

Step 3: Placing them in order, (which looks like the above photograph) is necessary. Start with the beginning the one and the last slide should end on the top.

Step 4: I then placed them in order into a jig, beginning from the top left and then from bottom left. I close the jog so the 8mm slides stay in place.

Step 5: I then place the jig into the Cannon Scanner, to then be scanned into Photoshop CS4.

Step 6: I set Photoshop CS4 to scan the 8mm slides, whereas they then show up on the scan to be cropped and previewed then scanned permanently into Photoshop.

Step 7: The finale thing is to do is to admire that you now turned old technology into new! This above photograph is one of the slides from an old 8mm film that i had demonstrated all the steps and this is what they look like when they are complete. They now can be used for teachers to show to classrooms. Also, these new images can be placed into iMovie, or a PowerPoint to teach students.
